Grand Circle
The Grand Circle of the Shaftesbury Theatre is the highest section in the venue. This part of the theatre is divided into central and side blocks by aisles.
If you are after feeling immersed and quite close to the action taking place on stage you might be disappointed sitting in the Grand Circle. The best seats are in rows A-C but the stage still feels really distant from here making it impossible to make out small details or nuances.
It is also worth noting that there is a safety rail in front of row A which obstructs the view quite significantly.
Legroom feels really restricted and cramped in this part of the theatre and taller members of the audience should aim for aisle seats or aim to purchase tickets in lower parts of the venue. There are metal safety bars at the ends of the central aisle which significantly affects the views in row A, B and C in seats 13, 14 and 24.
Patrons who are planning on attending with children should not buy tickets for this section of the theatre. Despite the good rake, it is very hard to make out a lot of what’s happening on stage due to the fact that the Grand Circle feels so far away from ground level.
Those who experience vertigo and those who suffer from acrophobia should also avoid the Grand Circle. This part of the theatre is not wheelchair accessible and is not suited to those with reduced mobility.
