2:22 A Ghost Story description

You don’t know what’s going to happen, but it’s spooky from the start. The tension mounts as the story proceeds. Before long, even though you’re in a theatre along with hundreds of other people, you start to feel edgy. By the end of the play you’re thrillingly scared.

That night, when you get home, you find yourself sleeping with the light on. That’s the 2:22 experience, and it’s back at the Gielgud Theatre.

Meet Jenny. She’s in a state, sure her lovely new home is haunted. Jenny’s husband Sam is sceptical. When their old friend Lauren and new partner Ben come over for dinner, the argument continues. Do the dead walk, or do they stay safely dead and gone? As belief and scepticism clash, something starts to feel very strange. And whatever it is, it’s getting closer. The foursome decides to stay up until 2:22 and see what happens...

The original production of this moody, exciting piece of work broke all box office records for a new play at the Noel Coward Theatre. Some called it the theatre event of the year, others claimed it was the hottest ticket in the West End. Audiences agreed. The play has enjoyed three Laurence Olivier Nominations, including Best New Play, and it won the Olivier for Best New Play from Whatsonstage. Are you up for an adrenaline-fuelled experience? Are you bold enough to discover the truth?

The cast for the latest run includes Donna Air (Hollyoaks, Hotel Babylon, A Dinner of Herbs) as Lauren, James Buckley (Jay Carwright in the multi-award winning series The Inbetweeners) as Ben, back in the West End for the first time since playing in Les Miserables as a child, respected documentary presenter Stacey Dooley as Jenny and Joe MacFadden, (Rent, Rainbow Kiss, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) as Sam.

The creative team remains the same: set design by Anna Fleischle, costume design by Cindy Lin, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph Sound, Casting by Jessica Ronane CDG and Illusions by Chris Fisher. The fight directors are Rachel Bown-Williams & Ruth Cooper-Brown Of RC-Annie, and the show is produced by Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David and Kater Gordon.
