Choir of Man description
The setting is a pub. The barman serves beers while you enjoy live music, and you’re encouraged to join in with this truly immersive West End experience. Welcome to The Choir of Man, which scored big hits in Australia, on tour across Europe and the USA, at the Edinburgh Fringe, and Earl’s Court.
This Olivier Award-nominated global hit has been on and off stage in the West End since October 2021. Andrew Kay (Soweto Gospel Choir, Noise Boys, Gobsmacked and the award-winner North by Northwest) and Nic Doodson (The Magnets, Gobsmacked and Noise Boys) have created this theatreland musical with a difference, and there’s a superb cast lined up.
A thrilling pub gig populated by personalities you’ll recognise
Head to the West End for the ultimate pub lock-in. It’s a rousing, lively feel-good experience featuring nine talented men, each very different, playing a string of pop hits in a genuine on-stage bar. Pull up a bar stool and get ready to join in. You’ll be encouraged to sing and dance, so prepare to let your hair down!
The men play typical pub personalities: the Joker, Romantic, Hard Man, Handyman, even the Pub Bore. They’re here to drink to being mates, to music, to the laughter and the good times. No wonder the show was nominated for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play at 2022’s Oliviers.
Designed to bring a smile to your face and keep it there for ages afterwards, the show blends energetic choreography with irresistible songs from some of the finest artists of our times: Queen, Luther Vandross, Sia, Paul Simon, Adele, Guns and Roses, Avicii, Katy Perry and many more.
A stellar cast, creative team and live band
The company comprises Adam Bayjou (Les Misérables) as The Hard Man, Michele Maria Benvenuto (The Choir of Man – Norwegian Cruise Line), as The Maestro, Andrew J Carter (The Phantom of the Opera) as The Pub Bore, Ben Goffe (Hex) as The Handyman, Luke Conner Hall (Bat Out of Hell) as The Romantic, Michael Hamway (Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella) as The Poet, Daniel Harnett (The Choir of Man) as The Joker, Mark Irwin (The Commitments) as The Barman, and Tom Miles (Frankenstein) as The Beast.
They’re joined by talented Swing members Sam Ebenezer (The Mousetrap), James Hudson (Saturday Night Fever), Peter Lawrence from The Choir of Man tour and Niall Woodson on his West End debut.
Created by Nic Doodson and Andrew Kay, the fun is directed by Nic Doodson with musical supervision, vocal arrangements and orchestrations by Jack Blume.
The movement direction and choreography come from Freddie Huddleston and Ben Norris penned the monologues. The scenic design comes from Oli Townsend and the lighting design from Richard Dinnen, with costume design and associate scenic design by Verity Sadler and sound design by Sten Severson. Hollie Cassar is the musical director and associate musical supervisor.
