We love it when a legendary movie gets the West End musical treatment, and this musical version of Clueless is bound to delight audiences. The original film’s writer-director has given it a makeover to perfect it for the stage and the creative team is stacked with respected, award-winning West End royalty.

The plot of Clueless The Musical

The story goes like this. Witty Cher Horowitz is the most popular student at Beverly Hills High School, famous for her ability to bring people together. This is her biggest project yet, transforming her shy new friend Tai and matching her up with the school’s most handsome boy. But when, for the first time in her life, things don’t go perfectly, Cher is left wondering if she knows anything about love after all.

The ‘iconic voice of a generation’ Amy Heckerling, who also directed Fast Times at Ridgemont High, is a master of the coming-of-age genre. Like her other work, this musical theatre version of Clueless captures the authentic essence of teenage life in the USA with humour and wit. The West End premiere is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographed by Olivier winner Kelly Devine (Come From Away).

The original score is by multi-platinum singer-songwriter KT Tunstall with lyrics from GRAMMY winner and three-time Tony nominee Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, Sister Act).

If you’re looking for a comedy musical bending the spirit of the 90s with a vibrant contemporary feel, this will do nicely.
