Here You Come Again description

About Dolly Parton Musical - Here You Come Again

The US production of this fabulous new Dolly Parton musical was written by the two-time Emmy award-winning comedy writer and songwriter Bruce Vilanch, in collaboration with Gabriel Barre - who also directed the US version. Tricia Paoluccio, who played the role of Dolly in the US, is also on the writing team.

Here You Come Again is crammed full of gorgeous Dolly songs, set to a heart-warming feel-good plot designed to bring a smile to your face. Adapted for the UK run by British playwright Jonathan Harvey, who gave us Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Coronation Street, it’s a co-production with Simon Friend Entertainment.

On stage in Leeds from 11th May to 8th June 2024 for its UK premiere, the show takes off on an extensive UK tour before landing in the West End for a well-deserved transfer.

What's the story of Dolly Parton Musical - Here You Come Again?

The UK cast, creative team, dates and venue will be confirmed nearer the time, so for now let’s take a look at the personalities behind the magic.

Bruce Vilanch is a writer, actor, comedian and – wait for it – stripper. He’s won multiple Emmy awards, two for a couple of the 25 Oscar telecasts he’s penned. He played Edna Turnblad in Hairspray on Broadway and across the USA, and there’s even a Netflix documentary about him called Get Bruce. He knows and loves Dolly, having worked with her before.

Director Gabriel Barre delighted us with Amazing Grace on Broadway. He worked on the original productions of A Sign of the Times, The Wild Party by Andrew Lippa, Summer of '42, Memphis, Billy Elliot, Sweeney Todd, Finian's Rainbow and many more seal the deal, hinting at a particularly amazing production this time around.

Tricia Paoluccio is loved for her Broadway performances in Fiddler on the Roof, The Green Bird and A View from the Bridge. She has been genuinely inspired by Dolly Parton, which makes her involvement in the musical even more poignant and perfect. TV roles in Saint X, Homeland and more have proved her acting talents and she also happens to be a respected artist.

Britain’s Jonathan Harvey has written more than 20 plays produced by the Bush Theatre, Royal Court, National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, and in the West End. His landmark play Beautiful Things celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023 and he has collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys on two musicals. In 2023 his panto Mother Goose starred Ian McKellen and John Bishop, a hilarious experience that saw audiences helpless with laughter. Last but never least, he has penned more than 300 episodes of the nation’s best-loved soap, Corrie.
