Slava's Snowshow description
Master clown Slava Polunin’s theatre company Teatr Licedei delighted Russian audiences throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s. Then Slava created his SnowShow and, thirty years later, it’s still making audiences happy. Back in London after a seven year gap, we’re thrilled to welcome it back!
Slava’s exceptional troupe of talented clowns has created something awesome, a show that people of every age love. Using clowning to celebrate the everyday absurdities of life, Snowshow transports you from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Get ready to be touched, amused and awe-struck by the visual effects, the comedy, and the wonderful craziness of it all.
The troupe behind the magic
Slava is a Russian performance artist and Master Clown, creator of the theatrical spectacles Asisyai-revue and Diabolo and the founder of the famous Academy of Fools. He has created and staged the show, co-directing with Viktor Kramer and sharing responsibility for the scenography with Viktor Plotnikov. Slava is also responsible for the costume design and special effects, and has collaborated with Roman Dubinnikov to create the sound. The result is unforgettable.
Award-winning clowning
This is the art of clowning at its finest, a masterpiece in organised chaos that’s rich in eccentric enchantment.
Slava's SnowShow has toured the world, giving over 12,000 performances in more than 225 cities across 40 different nations. It enjoyed two Broadway runs, one in 2008 and the other in 2019. The production has been given more than twenty international awards, including an Olivier for Best Entertainment, Edinburgh Festival’s Festival Critics’ Award, a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, Moscow’s Stanislavski Award, Australia’s Sir Robert Helpmann Award, and a Tony nomination.
This marvellous show has been empowering people’s imagination since 1993. The action is captivating, immersive and fantastical, often surreal. It sends adults back to childhood and delivers magic to kids of every age. Happiness is the name of the game, making it the perfect festive treat to warm the heart and melt your worries away.
