The Enormous Crocodile description
There’s a crocodile in the jungle and he is absolutely ENORMOUS! Your children will adore this thrilling story about a huge croc who’s hunting for tasty, tender little children to eat. It’s just scary enough to be fun but not too scary, wonderfully colourful, and great fun.
Prepare for a BIG adventure in the jungle!
The Enormous Crocodile is big and powerful, and he’s really hungry. He loves the taste of little children, their podgy knees and juicy fingers. Can the other creatures in the jungle foil his naughty plans, see through his clever disguises and avoid his wicked tricks? They’re going to have to be very brave...
Roald Dahl’s beloved picture book brought to life
This fab new musical adaptation was staged at Leeds Playhouse from December 2023 to January 2024, bringing Roald Dahl’s beloved 1978 children’s picture book to life once more. The plot is enhanced by a load of unforgettable songs by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, the Sudanese-US musician who blends all sorts of different musical genres - krautrock, prog rock, electronica, free jazz and funk rock – with Sudanese pop music to create on-stage magic.
The hilarious book and captivating lyrics come from Suhayla El-Bushra, whose work on Arabian Nights at the Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, The Long Song at the Chichester Festival Theatre, and Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge rocked the world of entertainment.
Additional music and lyrics come from Tom Brady who delighted us with The Butterfly Lion at Chichester Festival Theatre, and was the Musical Supervisor and Arranger for Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre. The set and costume design is by Fly Davis (I Want My Hat Back, National Theatre, Ocean At The End of The Lane, National Theatre and West End).
Directed by Emily Lim (Brainstorm for Company Three, National Theatre, Pericles, National Theatre), the production stars an entire jungle’s worth of glorious puppets from the leading UK puppetry director and designer Toby Olié, (Spirited Away, Imperial Theatre Tokyo, Pinocchio, NT, 101 Dalmatians, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), who also co-directs the show.
The musical has been developed by Emily Lim, Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, Suhayla El-Bushra, Tom Brady and the Roald Dahl Story Company. It’s a Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Roald Dahl Story Company and Leeds Playhouse production.
