The Play That Goes Wrong description

The Play That Goes Wrong is a total scream. This gorgeous feast of classic silliness sees audiences in tears of laughter, the ultimate feel-good show where everything that can possible go wrong goes horribly wrong. Expect brilliant performances packed with physical and verbal comedy.

The plot

When Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society unexpectedly comes into money, they’re thrilled. When they try to put on a serious 1920s murder mystery play, things go wrong right from the start... and never improve. As one disaster follows another, you’ll have tears streaming down your face.

The Play That Goes Wrong is written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields from the Mischief Theatre Company. The original production has been on stage in London since 2012 and won the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. It has toured the UK several times, spent two years on the Broadway stage, and is still playing on stage off-Broadway.

The stars of the show

Jordan Akkaya plays Trevor and Daniel Anthony plays Dennis. Joe Bolland is Jonathan and Daniel Fraser plays Chris. Billie Hamer takes the role of Annie and Owen Jenkins is Robert. Jay Olpin plays Max and Hannah Sinclair Robinson is Sandra.

The creative team

The creative team includes Mark Bell, who directs, and Nigel Hook the set designer. Ric Mountjoy is the Lighting Designer and Robert Surace is the Costume Designer, with original music by Rob Falconer and sound design from Andy Johnson. Amy Milburn is the Associate Director and the resident director is Lexie Ward. The casting comes from Lucy Jenkins CDG and Sookie McShane CDG.
